Best weed puller I’ve tried so far

This is a true 'weed eater' - roots and all!

This is a true 'weed eater' - roots and all!

The Weed Hound(R) really is the best hand tool I’ve used for removing weeds in the lawn. To get the best results I’ve had to twist the tool in a full circle in order to get the weed & root to release from the ground. (With particularly large weeds I’ve even turned it two complete circles.)

The good news is that it is very easy to twist it (even for a 68-year-old) once it has grabbed the weed and root (which happens automatically when you press the tool into the ground with your foot).

I bought my almost-new one at Salvation Army. Tto release the pulled-up weed I’ve sometimes had to shake the tool or hit the business end of it on the ground gently. This might not be true of a brand new one.

No Garden Space? Grow Plants Upside Down…or Plant Your Walls!

If you think you don’t have a place for a garden, think again!  If you watch TV at all you’ve undoubtedly been assaulted by mini-infomercials about ‘topsy turvy’ tomato planters. And the Sunday newspaper magazine sections recently featured ads for the ‘tomato tree.’

But wait…if you go to YouTube, you can be amazed at the results of searching-

  • “vertical gardening”
  • “living walls”

On this video you can see a man creating a wall for planting on his sun porch. On Part 2 of his video he shows the final installation plus how he gets plants to actually grow on his wall.

How about an exterior wall of a downtown building?  For the same idea on an even grander scale, see this amazing building in Paris!
